Tristan and Ray finished a fine 10th outright and first Class P6 in a very demanding event.

With 6 stages, including a 44.5km stage run twice, and the other two stages run twice as well but the second time in reverse. Was 120km competitive all in the Kowen forest to the East of Canberra.

Tristan and Ray were running in the Subaru RX turbo, with a rebuilt engine after the dramas that Tristan had at the Bay Stages rally. The day started well with some early competitive times, then the engine dropped onto 3 cylinders just over half way through stage 3. Also catching some cars in the stage, dust was quite bad.

At the major service we decided to keep going, battle on with an undepowered car adn just try and get to the finish. Added some oil at the service as well.

Tristan drove quite smart over the last 3 stages, trying to keep up the mid corner speed so as to have a bit of drive out of the corners. He was actually improving his times, including beating his first time on stage 3 by 23 seconds but with less power and the sun and dust causing visibility to be quite low.

In the end we finished 10th outright only 4 secs behind Matt Thompson, 2nd clubman for Tristan and 1st P6.

Great effort by all who finished, commiserations to Claude and Kate who had gearbox issues while well in the lead.
